The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, religious advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs with an international presence.
OU faced the challenge of missing a unified view of their donors and their households while managing diverse internal data sources. Aligned to different causes, their journey to a golden view of donors reached a turning point with the introduction of Zingg.
Their initial attempts at data centralization were met with significant obstacles, including data overwriting and unique departmental needs. However, the support of EVPs, particularly Josh Joseph, reinvigorated their data warehousing project. When their team discovered Zingg, it quickly became clear that their enterprise version was the ideal fit for their needs.
Under Shelomo’s leadership, the Orthodox Union embarked on a transformative journey with Zingg, implementing a multi-strategy approach for data integration. This included employing the Medallion architecture within Snowflake and utilizing Zingg for entity resolution and golden record creation.
The results are remarkable: Zingg results are highly accurate, and the precision of person entity resolution exceeds expectations. Incremental runs build an enterprise-wide identity graph for donors, with Zingg processing updates and for multiple daily runs. The success in integrating individual records extended to households, revealing intricate family trees and showcasing Zingg’s capability to handle complex data relationships.
Shelomo’s collaboration with Zingg has been a journey of innovation and problem-solving. His leadership has been instrumental in demonstrating the value of Zingg's capabilities in achieving a unified and efficient data management system.
As Shelomo eloquently put it,
“Building something together is a win-win for everyone.”
Welcome aboard, Shelomo! Here’s to a future of innovation and success!
